Do you know about dyeing?
Dyeing is the process of to imparting colors and patterns to a white fabric by treatment with a dye. It is said that the beginning of dyeing is squeezing juice of flowers and soak them on clothes because of the passion for wearing colors of beautiful nature. In Japan, it is confirmed that the technique (Tie-dyeing and Batik) of dyeing has been introduced from the Asian Continent by the cloth, which kept in the Shosoin Treasure House.
- Natural dyestuffs are extracted pigments of trees, plants and animals (insect, shellfish).
- Chemical dyestuffs are made from oil.
